Free Pattern -- Tiptoe Through the Tulips

Tiptoe Through the Tulips

Materials used

Caron Simply Soft – (C1) Dark green – 2 ounces
Caron Simply Soft – (C2) Bright green – 2 ounces
Caron Simply Soft – (C3) Bright yellow – 1 ounce
Caron Simply soft – (C4) Bright Pink – 1 ounce

G Hook
Yarn needle
Craft Scissors

Special stitches:
Shell – (Dc, ch1, dc) in specified stitch; shell made
Cluster (CL) – YO, insert hook in specified st and draw up a lp to height of a dc) 4 times; YO and draw through all 9 lps on hook: CL made

Stitches used:
sp--space
beg ch--beginning chain
sl st--slip stitch
sc--single crochet
dc--double crochet


Row 1: With C1, ch-4, join with sl st to form a ring, Ch-3 (counts as 1st dc here and throughout) dc 11 times in ring, join to top of beg ch-3. (12 dc)

Row 2: (Ch-3, dc, ch-2, 2 dc) in joining st, [dc in next 2dc, *2dc, ch-2, 2 dc* in corner] 3 times, dc in next 2 dc], join to top of beg ch-3, sl st to corner. FO. (24 dc)

Row 3: With C2, join in any corner ch2 sp, (ch-4, dc, ch-2, dc, ch-1, dc) in corner sp, [sk 1, *dc, ch-1, dc in next dc* (Shell made), sk 2, Shell, [dc, ch-1, dc, ch-2, dc, ch-1, dc] in corner] 3 times, sk 1, shell, sk 2, shell, join to 3rd ch of beg ch-4. FO (32 dc)

Row 4: With C4, join in ch-1 sp after ch2 of corner, with a sl st CL in same sp, (*ch-2, CL in next ch1 sp* across until ch2 sp of corner, ch-3) 4 times, join to top of 1st CL. FO. (16 CL)

Row 5: With C1, join in any ch3 corner, (ch-3, dc, ch-2, 2dc) in corner, [*dc in CL top, 2 dc in each ch2 sp across*, 2 dc, ch-2, 2 dc in corner] 3 times, dc in CL top, 2 dc in each ch2 sp across, join in top of beg ch-3. DO NOT FASTEN OFF (56 dc)

Row 6: Sl st to corner, (ch-3, dc, ch-2, 2 dc) in corner, [dc in each dc across, *2 dc, ch-2, 2 dc in corner*] 3 times, dc in each dc across. Join to top of beg ch-3. FO. (72 dc)

Row 7: With C2, join in any ch2 corner, ch-4, dc, ch-2, dc, ch-1, dc in corner, [sk 1, *shell, sk 2* across to ch2 corner, (dc, ch-1, dc, ch-2, dc, ch-1, dc) in corner] 3 times, sk 1, *shell, sk2* across, join to 3rd ch of beg ch4 sp. FO. (64 dc)

Row 8: With C3, repeat row 4. (32 CL)

Row 9: Repeat row 5. (104 dc)

Row 10: Repeat row 6.c(120 dc)

Row 11: Repeat row 7. (96 dc)

Row 12: With C4, repeat row 4. (48 CL)

Row 13: Repeat row 5. (152 dc)

Weave in all ends.

Thanks for the pattern Lisa!!! I made mine today for the Ravelry 2010 BAMCAL and it's just delightful.

I had to end it at row 10 and add a row of hdc because that made the 12" for me, still is too pretty ;o)
